Google API Access and Connected Google Services

Athenta allows users to optionally connect certain Google services to enable user-requested features within the platform. Google services are connected only when a user chooses to authorize them. Depending on the features the user chooses to use, Athenta may request access to Gmail, Google Calendar, and Google Drive.

Athenta requests the following Google permissions:

1. openid

Used to authenticate the user with Google and associate the user’s Google identity with the user’s Athenta account.

2. https://www.googleapis.com/auth/userinfo.email

Used to access the user’s primary Google Account email address for account identification, sign-in, account association, security, support, and limited internal analytics related to service operation.

3. https://www.googleapis.com/auth/userinfo.profile

Used to access basic Google profile information, such as the user’s name and profile image, for account identification, connected-account display, account management, security, and support.

4. https://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar.readonly

Used to view and retrieve Google Calendar data, including calendars and event details the user is permitted to access, in order to support user-requested features such as viewing, searching, retrieving, and summarizing calendar information within Athenta.

This permission is read-only. It does not allow Athenta to create, edit, or delete calendar events.

5. https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.readonly

Used to view and retrieve Google Drive file and folder metadata, and file contents where necessary, in order to support user-requested features such as searching, retrieving, analyzing, and summarizing files within Athenta.

This permission is read-only. It does not allow Athenta to create, edit, or delete files in Google Drive.

6. https://www.googleapis.com/auth/gmail.readonly

Used to view and retrieve Gmail messages, message metadata, labels, and related mailbox information where necessary to support user-requested features such as searching, retrieving, analyzing, and summarizing emails within Athenta.

This permission is read-only. It does not allow Athenta to send, modify, or delete email messages.

Athenta does not use Google user data for advertising.

Athenta does not transfer Google user data to data brokers.

AI Processing and Service Providers

To provide user-requested AI features, Athenta may process user content, including content retrieved from connected Google services, through third-party service providers that help operate the platform. These providers may include hosting, infrastructure, security, logging, analytics, and AI-processing providers.

Where a user asks Athenta to analyze, summarize, or otherwise process content from Gmail, Google Drive, or Google Calendar, the relevant content may be transmitted to AI service providers solely to provide the requested functionality.

Athenta does not use Google Workspace API data to develop, improve, or train generalized artificial intelligence or machine learning models.

Athenta only shares Google user data with service providers as necessary to operate the service, protect the platform, comply with law, or provide the specific functionality requested by the user.

Data Storage, Retention, and Internal Use

Athenta may store limited Google-connected data, account identifiers, technical logs, and usage records as necessary for:

  • providing the requested feature;
  • maintaining security and preventing abuse;
  • debugging and monitoring API behavior;
  • basic internal analytics;
  • complying with legal obligations;
  • enforcing Athenta’s terms and policies.

Athenta stores only the data reasonably necessary for these purposes and retains it only for as long as needed for operational, security, legal, and support purposes.

User Choice and Revocation

Users may choose whether to connect Google services to Athenta. A user may revoke Athenta’s access to Google data at any time by:

  • disconnecting the Google account within Athenta, where available; or
  • removing Athenta’s access from the user’s Google account permissions page.

If access is revoked, Athenta will no longer be able to retrieve new data from the affected Google service unless the user reconnects it.
